EXPLORING THE CARIBBEAN WITH TRAVEL CARIBBEAN COSTA RICA!!
Beginning in the amazing canals and natural beauty of Tortugero in the north, moving to the provincial capital and Costa Rica’s only Caribbean port of Limon, then winding down the coastal highway to the villages of Cahuita, home to Cahuita National Park with its barrier reef and howler monkeys, and Puerto Viejo with its well known surfing break at Salsa Brava through the amazing Caribbean beaches in Cocles and Punta Uva and finally ending in the diver’s paradise of Manzanillo, the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica is one of the most concentrated areas of natural beauty in Central America.
If you are an adventure traveler, you will love the Class III and IV rapids of the Rio Pacuare, zipping over the trees on a canopy tour or kayaking in the sea or in rainforest rivers. Water lovers will thrill to the amazing sea life snorkeling through Cahuita’s barrier reef, scuba diving in the blue-green waters off the Gandoca/Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge or surfing the breaks in Puerto Viejo or Cahuita.
Explore the beaches, rainforest and waterfalls on horseback or on a guided hike through Cahuita National Park. Take a boat trip far into the sea to watch dolphins play during the day and a hike along the beaches to watch giant sea turtles nest (in season) after dark.
The first Caribbean Costa Ricans, the indigenous tribes of the Bri Bri and Cabecar will welcome you to their villages and way of life deep inside the rainforest where they live one with nature. Learn how chocolate is made from cacao, the art of making a thatched roof from palm leaves, and the way in which local plants are used for both medicine and food.
At night let the rhythms of reggae, calypso and Latin music pull you into the streets for dancing in a local bar. Your hammock and a good book are the perfect retreats when your feet are weary or the rainforest’s skies open for a brief shower.
